Jones Day is a law firm that was targeted by the ransomware group cl0p. Cl0p is one of the hacker gangs that publish their own leaks sites, which we categorize in the ransomware section of our index.
Today we have determined a portion of the Jones Day dataset worthy of public release. This portion includes a cache of emails from the City of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department. The emails were apparently provided to Jones Day as part of a review of the botched police raid on the home of social worker Anjanette Young in 2019.
The mailboxes belonged to Tamika Puckett (Chief Risk Officer), Anjali Julka (FOIA Officer), Patrick Mullane (Deputy Press Secretary) and Susan Lee (Deputy Mayor of Public Safety). The emails likely don't represent a complete copy of what Jones Day received and reviewed. They do represent an unprecedented, unredacted look at the policies and operations of the City of Chicago and one of the most disturbing police departments in America.
