Limited distribution: ODIN Intelligence (19 GB)
A contractor that works for police agencies had its website defaced as reported by Techcrunch
We are listing 19 GB including thousands of photos, audio recordings, reports and user information from ODIN Intelligence and SweepWizard, a pair of apps geared towards law enforcement that target houseless people.
This leak was first reported on Jan. 15 by Techcrunch.
Some of the reports in the ODIN collection appear to contain inaccurate information, such as listing police officer's names as "Superman," "Captain America," "Joe Blow," etc. and false phone numbers. Some of the reports in this dataset indicate that ODIN’s owner Erik McCauley and his wife were involved in law enforcement operations through parent company EJM Digital.
Techcrunch describes the information:
The data included dozens of folders with full tactical plans of upcoming raids, alongside suspect mugshots, their fingerprints and biometric descriptions and other personal information, including intelligence on individuals who might be present at the time of the raid, like children, cohabitants and roommates, some of whom described as having “no crim[inal] history.” Many of the documents were labeled as “confidential law enforcement only” and “controlled document” not for disclosure outside of the police department.
Vice wrote that one file in the cache “contains what appears to be user login information,” including two FBI email addresses. Vice has reported before on ODIN’s product line, writing:
ODIN offers law enforcement a variety of products. Last year, Motherboard reported on an ODIN brochure for a product called the Homeless Management Information System, or HMIS. “Police use ODIN facial recognition to identify even non-verbal or intoxicated individuals,” the brochure read.
Due to the PII in the dataset, we are only making it available to researchers and journalists. People with a history of publishing their research can get in touch with us to request the data.
