Limited distribution: Fundação Nacional de Artes (302 GB)
Emails from 2011 to 2022 of Brazil's national arts foundation, including the tumultuous Bolsonaro years. Funarte develops policies to promote the arts.

We have added to the limited distribution collection: an Anonymous hack of Funarte. This dataset includes more than 1 million emails from Fundação Nacional de Artes (Funarte), the Brazilian government's National Arts Foundation. Funarte develops policies to promote the arts, including music, dance, theatre and circus.
Under far right ex-president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), Brazil’s Ministry of Culture was dissolved, and Funarte was led by six different people, including a conservative musician who spread bizarre conspiracy theories. Other problems plagued the entity in the Bolsonaro years, with O Globo reporting “the body is ‘completely destroyed’ and ‘nebulous’, with a disorganized, unstructured and unstable staff.” At one point under Bolsonaro, Funarte was directly controlled by members of the military.
The emails in this collection cover more than a decade, between January 2011 and June 2022.
